About the Get Ready 2019 Summit

The Expanded Learning space (before-school, after-school, and summer-school) provides an opportunity for educators, community based organizations, and artists to operate beyond standards and create impact through academic support, personal & cultural enrichment, and health & wellness activities.

To better prepare those who serve our students, Youth Development Support Services at Sacramento City Unified School District hosts an annual Get Ready Summit as we head into the new school year. Each Summer, over 300 Expanded Learning educators attend the event to better prepare for the school year ahead. The event is a training opportunity that provides space to participate and engage in an array of workshops intended to enhance student engagement, heath and wellness practices, and 21st Century tools.

The focus for the workshops will be to equip participants with the tools to:

  • Promote positive and constructive student behaviors;

  • Expand family and community engagement efforts;

  • More effectively manage staff and school resources;

  • Strengthen the quality of recreation and enrichment offerings;

  • Incorporate meaningful Student Leadership opportunities

  • Establish a strong alignment with the school day

The summit will revitalize your passion and expand your tool chest for delivering high quality programming for our students. We invite you and members of your site and agency team to join us and take advantage of:

  • Networking and team building opportunities with over 300 expanded learning and out-of-school time professionals

  • Hear about the state of after school in our area

  • Best Practices from the field

  • Over 50 informative and engaging workshops and table talks to help you learn and grow

  • The latest local research on quality out-of-school time programming

  • Training and workshops on implementing a Social Justice Youth Development Framework to provide high quality programming

  • Connections with Exhibitors and Vendors sharing resources, products and services to enhance your programs

Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to engage, enlighten and learn with your colleagues and partners.
