About the Get Ready 2019 Summit

The Expanded Learning space (before-school, after-school, and summer-school) provides an opportunity for educators, community based organizations, and artists to operate beyond standards and create impact through academic support, personal & cultural enrichment, and health & wellness activities.


To better prepare those who serve our students, Youth Development Support Services at Sacramento City Unified School District hosts an annual “Get Ready Summit” as we head into each new school year. Each Summer, over 200 Expanded Learning educators attend the event to better prepare for the school year ahead. The event is a training opportunity that provides space to participate and engage in a blend of workshops intended to enhance student engagement, health & wellness practices, and 21st century tools. By attending the event, participants advance their knowledge, increase their practical skills, and learn a variety of processes that will allow them to assess obstacles, enhance practices and improve success.


Workshop Categories

Every year we invite educators, artists, and community members to lead interactive workshops intended for Expanded Learning Educators. We are accepting workshop proposals that will build on Academics, SEL (Social and Emotional Learning), Health & Wellness, Enrichment Opportunities, Safety, Youth Voice and Community Engagement.


Selection Criteria

We value the diversity and uniqueness of workshop proposal submissions. As a result, we highly consider and select workshops that can clearly:


1.    Identify the challenges that the presenter(s) intend to address.

2.    Review skills required to deal with the identified challenges.

3.    Introduce processes to deliver outcomes for students.
