2023 Summer Matters@SCUSD-Elementary
Summer Matters@SCUSD-Elementary is a stimulating 24 day summer learning program that will give your incoming Kinder through incoming 6th grade child the opportunity to participate in a meaningful and engaging summer learning experience to mitigate learning loss and accelerate classroom learning and equip them with the skills to transition and succeed in the 2023-2024 school year. Summer Matters@SCUSD-Elementary will provide a combination of enrichment activities such as music, dance, painting and theater arts, and opportunities for physical play/exercise.
The Summer Matters@SCUSD-Elementary program will operate Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm from June 26th to July 28th.
All students will be provided with a daily breakfast and lunch as a part of the program.
Students can enroll at any Summer Matters@SCUSD-Elementary site.
Applicants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the program.
All programs will include the following practices:
-Program will include academic enrichment, field trips, visual and performing arts enrichment.
-Focus on Relationships: Safe space to build mutual relationships with fellow students and adults. Enrichment activities will provide opportunities of collaboration, thus building trusting relationships among peers. Staff will focus on community agreements in order to address discipline issues.
-Connecting with Families and Communities: Parent education workshops and regular check-ins with parents/guardians.
-All students will be provided with a daily breakfast and lunch as a part of the program.
-Each of the Summer Matters@SCUSD sites will serve as a community school to allow students from ALL SCUSD schools to enroll.
-Applicants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the program.
